MED TECH Vacuum Extrication Vest (VEV) / Vacuum Spine Immobilizer (VSI) – MT80100
Lightweight, compact vacuum immobilization system designed for patient support during extrication, rescue and emergency transport.
Product Overview
The MED TECH Vacuum Extrication Vest (VEV) / Vacuum Spine Immobilizer (VSI) – MT80100 is a lightweight and compact vacuum immobilization device designed for EMS, rescue and extrication applications where controlled support of the torso and spine is required.
Unlike a rigid extrication device, the VEV/VSI conforms around the patient's body in a variety of positions before evacuation. As air is removed, the internal bead-filled chambers become firm and maintain the molded shape, providing supportive immobilization without relying on a fixed rigid structure.
MED TECH's chamber system helps keep the internal beads distributed throughout the device, including when the patient is positioned vertically, making the VEV/VSI well suited for confined-space extrication and other challenging rescue situations.
Designed for Extrication & Vertical Applications
The VEV/VSI is designed to conform around the patient's upper body while helping maintain support in seated, angled and vertical positions. Its compact format makes it especially useful for vehicle extrication, confined-space rescue and situations where a full-size vacuum spine board may not be practical.
Key Features
Controlled Support During Extrication
The VEV/VSI remains flexible while being positioned around the patient, allowing rescuers to adapt the device to different body positions and confined environments. Once the desired positioning is achieved, air is removed through the vacuum valve and the internal bead system firms around the patient.
The device is designed to provide support without creating excessive pressure against the body and may also help reduce heat loss during patient management. MED TECH specifically notes its suitability for heavier patients due to the leg-strap design, which helps prevent the vest from sliding upward.
A lightweight, compact, and easy to apply Vacuum Extrication Vest with the patented chamber system allowing the beads to stay in place, even in a vertical application. The Vacuum Extrication Vest conforms to the body in most positions without placing pressure ensuring comfort and support for the patient. The Vacuum Extrication Vest can also aid in hypothermia prevention.
All straps and buckles are color-coded for easier application. All straps and lifting handles are comfortable, easy to remove, clean or replace. Leg straps do not cause the discomfort in the groin as they are folded under and around the leg, pulling the straps downward to prevent the Vacuum Extrication Vest from sliding up, this is especially useful for heavier patients.
The standard ½ inch (12.5 mm) US/Europe 2-piece valve is easy to operate with heavy gloves on and is very easy to clean or replace.
The Vacuum Extrication Vest compacts to a small size when not in use, and comes with a carrying case for easy storage. The Vacuum Extrication Vest is MRI compatible and X-Ray translucent.
This product is covered by a lifetime guarantee - with the exception of replacement parts which are covered by a three year warranty.
