IV Administration

IV administration, or intravenous administration, is a method of delivering fluids, medications, or nutrients directly into a patient's bloodstream through a vein. This method is commonly used in medical settings to provide rapid and efficient delivery of treatments. IV administration may be used for hydration, administering medications, blood transfusions, or delivering chemotherapy drugs.

The process of IV administration involves inserting a sterile IV catheter into a vein, typically in the arm or hand, and securing it in place with tape. The IV catheter is connected to an IV bag containing the fluid or medication to be administered. The flow rate of the IV can be controlled using a clamp or pump to ensure the correct dosage is delivered over a specific period.
