Product details
The BD BBL™ MacConkey Agar, 500 g is a selective and differential culture medium used for the isolation and differentiation of Gram-negative enteric bacteria based on lactose fermentation. It is widely used in clinical, food, water, and pharmaceutical microbiology laboratories.
MacConkey Agar contains bile salts and crystal violet to inhibit Gram-positive organisms, allowing selective growth of Gram-negative bacteria. Lactose and a neutral red pH indicator enable differentiation between lactose-fermenting organisms, which produce pink to red colonies, and non-lactose fermenters, which appear colorless or translucent.
Supplied as a dehydrated powder, this 500-gram container is suitable for preparing large volumes of culture media, making it ideal for high-throughput laboratory environments. BD BBL media are manufactured under strict quality standards to ensure consistent performance and reliable results.
