Product Details

The Patient Handling manikin was designed in direct response to the growing demand for a safe ‘volunteer’ to use in health and safety training within Hospital and Care settings. In many instances, workers need safe and sufficient training to make sure they can use lifting/transfer/evacuation equipment safely and that they continue to use effective moving and handling skills that help to prevent injury.

Musculoskeletal injury through incorrect lifting techniques is extremely common in healthcare industry workers across Canada. CCOHS (Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety) gives advice on ergonomic safe patient handling and is a good source of information for how to train a more resilient workforce.

These manikins are also a great tool for colleges and universities offering health, nursing, or social care courses where the safe handling of people is a key component of the course.  Using a manikin means you can learn through repetition as there is no risk to a ‘volunteer’.

Did you know that any business which has more than 50 employees working in a building, must prepare an emergency evacuation plan for, including for those who require special assistance? Ruth Lee manikins are often used in evacuation training – after all, a plan is good, but you need to make sure all staff are competent to complete that plan in a genuine emergency. Manikins are the ideal tool for this.
